Hometown

Hometown

If home is a place, I’ve walked

for years with blisters

and still haven’t found it.

If home is a person, I’ve handed

my heart out, ripe and open

to the wrong one.

If home is a feeling, I know

it can’t be a sad one or

I’d be there by now.

If home is a feeling, I hope

I can make that into colour

and see that it’s real.

Hometown is both fractured memories

 of someone more curious,

and where one day I might discover

the feeling I’ve always missed.
