The Sacred Art of Conscious Love
Love possesses not nor would it be possessed;
For love is sufficient unto love.
(Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet)

Let this offering be read with devotion,
with Alvaro Santamaría “Te Amaré”
playing softly in the background:
Those of us who share
good chemistry
are love scientists.
We act and react
to electric impulses,
scent,
and timing.
A mysterious
movement
of bodies
exuding
desire.
Chemistry has its own intelligence,
pulling us toward one another,
shaking us awake,
making our bodies listen
before our minds are capable of understanding
what has happened to us.
Then there are those of us
fortunate enough
to experience the alchemy,
as initiates into the art of love.
Not reacting to energy,
but learning to transform it.
Exploring new ways of loving,
new ways of staying,
new ways of seeing
within ourselves and within the beloved
through the mirror of devotion.
Creating and sharing love,
without consuming it.
Serving love,
not seeking it.
Chemistry is the spark.
Alchemy is the fire we learn to tend.
Chemistry loves out of necessity.
Alchemy loves by choice.
When chemistry tells us:
“I need you
because you
make me feel alive.”
Alchemy whispers,
“I choose us
to be love.”
Chemistry is
immediate,
intoxicating,
dazzling.
The thrill,
the pull,
the butterflies
the fever.
The beautiful
disturbance
of attraction,
appetite,
fantasy,
and projection.
Lingering on the surface:
appearances,
projections,
and the sound of that voice.
Alchemy patiently waits
as long as required,
even lifetimes,
until what is within
is revealed.
Fed by a craving to know
what lives underneath the surface.
Asking:
What kind of soul
is standing before us?
What wounds
are being touched?
What patterns
are repeating?
What future
is being invited in?
Chemistry lives from the past,
craving for what was,
creating fantasies
out from our imagination
and most profound desires.
Alchemy does not look to the past,
honouring the memory of what was,
living in the here and now,
focused on what love is and may become.
Chemistry happens.
Alchemy builds itself.
Everyone is looking for chemistry,
for the one who shakes the ground,
quickens the breath,
awakens the hunger,
and makes the world feel charged again.
Few find the alchemy
that brings us to the one
who feels like a return,
a home remembered by the soul,
where the heart can peacefully rest.
The calm ember
that does not need to consume
in order to be powerful.
Chemistry
attracts
and distracts.
Alchemy
gathers
and deepens.
Chemistry separates
through fantasies,
roles,
comparisons,
and the endless seductions of the ego.
Keeping us circling the surface of desire,
looking for the next confirmation
that we are wanted,
special,
alive.
The desire of love
is to give.
The desire of lust
is to get.
Alchemy asks
for something
more courageous:
Meeting the other,
not as an object of desire,
but as a sacred mirror.
Meeting love
not as possession,
but as initiation.
Loving her
before and after,
still discovering
who she is.
Loving us
before and after,
still discovering
who we are.
Leaving her,
letting her free,
being authentic,
separate vehicles,
of the same unique love,
each unfurling its own wings,
and still,
both choosing
to fly beside another,
flying each other
back home.
This is our sacred bond.
The blessed union of our two souls
willing to become whole
through love.
The conciliation of opposites
sun and moon,
wild and tender,
sovereign and surrendered.
Alchemy bringing together
what chemistry divides,
teaching us that love
is not only a feeling,
that love is a practice,
a path,
a purification,
a devotion,
a way of being.
Love is the place
where we transmute our fears,
to rise and be transformed.
Love is where our ego is asked to bow
before a sovereign being of love and light.
While chemistry fades once
there is nothing deeper to feed it.
Alchemy is birthed
through time,
with truth,
in authenticity,
playing,
repairing,
and the willingness
to keep choosing
consciousness
over reaction
to keep choosing
love,
over love,
over love,
ever
and ever
forever
again,
as it was at the beginning,
as it is here and now,
and as it shall always be.
It is born every time we stop asking:
“What can I get from this love?”
and begin asking,
“What can this love awaken in me?”
Chemistry alone
exhausts the body
forever chasing,
with intensity,
always fearful
of losing the sensation.
Alchemy caresses us from within,
soothing without making us passive,
transforming without making us disappear,
teaching us how to turn fear into tenderness,
insecurity into honesty,
control into trust,
and longing into devotion.
To love alchemically is to stop looking
for the person who excites our chemistry.
It requires becoming the person
who can hold the sacred fire of love,
understanding that the beloved
is not here to save us from ourselves,
but to meet us where we are true,
stopping to worship the spark
to begin honoring the everlasting ember.
Let us be devoted to the soul.
Let us transform
our fears
and shortcomings
into love,
maturity,
beauty,
and evolution.
Let us choose alchemy
and become artists of love.
Let me always remember
that I am here for you.
Let me always remind you
that I shall always love you
through my deeds,
with my eyes, without words.
Yo lo Creo/
I believe, and so it is
