Suspension.

The world changes in the space where nothing appears to be happening.

What world becomes possible before it becomes visible?

What becomes possible when we stop insisting on what must happen next?

Start a huge, foolish project, like Noah… it makes absolutely no difference what people think of you.

(Rumi)

We suggest that you listen to "Stillness in Motion" from Luly & Mischka while reading "Suspension"

There are moments when the most faithful thing we can do is stop trying to make the future arrive.

Something has ended.

What comes next cannot yet be forced into existence.

I find myself there now.

I feel frustrated by the apparent stagnation of my dissertation. I have imagined the PRIME Framework. I have seen something that wants to exist. And now I find myself having to justify it, articulate it, support it, translate it into a language through which others may recognise what I have already glimpsed.

I expected to have made more progress.

I have not.

And suddenly I catch myself measuring a living process against an expectation I invented, and feeling the pressure of a measure I imposed upon myself.

From that tiny crack, the whole cosmos enters.

Saturn appears to stop. We remember Dos de Octubre and the sacrifice of Regina. We prepare to celebrate the conscious re-membering of our marriage. We travel on our anniversary to a country commemorating its reunification. A film we helped bring into the world: "El Mundo Imaginado", is ceremonially screened.

And I begin to wonder whether what appears to be suspended might actually be a movement of another kind.

Not everything that appears to stop has ceased to move.

There is a moment between worlds when progress becomes impossible because progress is no longer what is being asked of us.

Something wants to be re-membered before it can move again.

We have just reflected upon Pramā and the right measure.

Perhaps this is its next teaching.

There is danger in imposing a predetermined measure upon a living process.

Equilibrium is a moment. Balance is a living practice. And becoming has its own time.

Sometimes we are asked not to advance, but to re-member the union from another level of consciousness, reconciling the opposites:

Being and Doing.

Reality and Expectation.

Grace and Will.

Heart and Thought.

What we imagine and what we incarnate.

Suspension is the sacred interval in which we cease pushing the old world forward long enough for another possibility to become imaginable.

And perhaps this is why imagination matters.

Because imagination precedes incarnation.

Dos de Octubre no se olvida, because in Velasco Piña's Regina, another consciousness was imagined and announced.

The German reunification had to become imaginable before it could become political reality.

Tres de Octubre se recuerda, because by entering into a conscious marriage, we imagined our relationship anew.

We gather at the Salzburg Global Corporate Governance Forum with practicing board members and corporate leaders to imagine what governance might yet become.

We attest the birthing of "El Mundo Imaginado" carrying the teaching in its very name.

PRIME exists because I willingly imagined governance differently before knowing whether others would ever choose to embody it.

Perhaps, therefore, Suspension is the condition, but Imagination is the teaching.

Consciousness does not merely respond to the worlds it encounters.

It participates in imagining them into being.

There comes a moment when forcing movement becomes the obstacle to movement.

When striving must become listening.

When expectation must become availability.

When the question is no longer: What must happen next?

But: What is becoming imaginable now?

My dissertation proposes movement towards relational responsibility. I now realise how ironic it is that I attempt to produce it through control, expectation and linear productivity.

Perhaps that is what my dissertation is asking from me.

Not: When will you finish me?

But: From where are you trying to write me?

May you receive what arrives.

May you find its measure.

May you know when not to interfere.

And from that sacred interval: Imagine.

Yo lo Creo / I believe, and so it is.
