New Moon in Cancer

New Moon in Cancer

Returning Home

Home is not the place that receives you.

Home is the place from which you receive the world.

For many years, María and I have accompanied each New and Full Moon through the beautiful reflections, astrological insights, and rituals shared by Tanaaz at  Forever Conscious. Over time, we found ourselves sharing these reflections with many fellow lunatics who had become companions along the way.

Her work has been a faithful presence, gently inviting us, and so many others, to move in rhythm with the cycles of the Moon. At the last Full Moon in Capricorn, Tanaaz shared that she is taking a well-deserved sabbatical to rest and recover. We wish her well, and will miss her voice through these lunar cycles.

Her temporary silence has inspired us to begin a small practice of our own, not to interpret the stars, but to listen to the wisdom they invite us to remember, and share it with you, here in THE MYTHS.

So, beginning today, 14 July 2026, with the New Moon in Cancer, we will be offering a brief reflection.

On each New Moon, we will invite you to plant a seed; on each Full Moon, we will return to harvest what has quietly ripened within us.

Let us see where the Moon carries us.

The New Moon in Cancer.

Cancer is often misunderstood as the sign of family.

At a deeper level, it is the sign of inner belonging.

It is an invitation to ask ourselves: Where am I at home?

Nothing to do with the country or house we live in, not even with our family or lineage, but the place within ourselves from which we meet the world.

For many years I believed home was wherever María was. There is truth in that. Her presence has always offered me a space where I can simply be, without needing to do anything. Yet she has also taught me something even deeper: that the greatest gift love offers is not another home, but the courage to return to our own. Now I know that María feels like home, not because she is my home, but because, with her, I remember the way back to my own. Perhaps that is what love has always been, as Ram Dass once wrote, "We are all just walking each other home."

The recent reflections we shared in Becoming, together with those unfolding in Embodiment, which will be published later this week, have led us, synchronistically, to this same threshold.

We spend much of life searching for somewhere to belong, until one day we discover that what we were seeking was not a place, but a way of being.

We do not become at home by arriving somewhere else. We become home.

Perhaps home is what the journey has been awakening within us all along.

Remember

Home is not the place that receives you. Home is the place from which you receive the world.

Practice

Place one hand upon your heart and one upon your lower abdomen. Take twelve slow breaths.

With each inhalation, ask: "Where am I standing?"

With each exhalation, ask: "Who is standing here?"

When no answer comes... Remain.

That silence is closer to home than any thought.

Journaling

  • Where do I still seek permission to belong?
  • Which version of myself still believes it must earn its belonging?
  • What would change if I discovered that I have always been home?

Blessing

May I remember

that the heart

is not searching

for home.

It is home.

May every place I enter

become gentler

because I arrived

already at peace.

May this New Moon

plant a seed of belonging

that no circumstance

can ever take away.

Yo lo Creo/

I believe, and so it is
