New Moon in Virgo.

New Moon in Virgo.

Tending What Matters.

We cannot determine what the seed will become. We can only decide how faithfully we will tend it.

What we wish to harvest tomorrow must be tended today.

At the Full Moon in Pisces, we harvested availability. We opened our hands, stopped asking what was ours to shine and began asking: What wishes to move through me?

Pisces reminded us that surrender is not making ourselves less, it is making ourselves available.

Now Virgo quietly asks: Available for what?

Perhaps the answer is: For what has been entrusted to our care.

The New Moon in Virgo of 11 September arrives as Summer begins preparing to surrender itself to Autumn. The Equinox approaches. The days will shorten. And soon, what has flourished in the light will begin its return beneath the earth.

This New Moon therefore feels different.

Its seed may not be something we harvest at the next Full Moon.

Some seeds ask for a longer devotion. These must travel through Autumn, enter Winter, remain unseen and trust the darkness long enough to meet the Spring.

Virgo is often understood as the sign of order, discipline and attention to detail. At a deeper level, Virgo is the sign of devotion, the loving attention we give to what matters.

It invites us to ask: What has been entrusted to my care, and how shall I tend it?

I have been hearing that question everywhere.

On my desk, in my files, in the matters awaiting my attention, in pending and unfinished conversations, commitments made. In myself.

Everything seems to be asking:

What requires attention?

What needs completion?

What am I ready to tend?

This is not decluttering. This requires greater depth. And breath.

Decluttering can become another act of control: discarding what no longer fits the life we imagine we should be living.

Discernment asks something else: to look carefully at what is before us, honour what was, recognise what is, and make space for what may yet become.

Not everything unfinished needs to be finished. Not everything old needs to be discarded. Not everything difficult needs to be repaired.

Some things need our attention. Some our gratitude. Some our forgiveness. Some our renewed commitment.

And some need to be lovingly released.

The work is to discern which is which.

Perhaps this is Virgo's medicine. Not perfection but Impeccability.

Not the impossible demand that everything be without flaw, but the commitment to meet what is ours with attention, integrity, and care.

To tend all our relations. The people we love. The promises we have made. Our bodies. Our homes. Our communities. The Earth beneath our feet. And our relationship with ourselves.

Not because everything belongs to us. But because, for a time, something has been entrusted to our care.

Pisces asked us to become transparent enough for Love to pass through.

Virgo now reminds us that Love needs hands, attention, practice, commitment.

Love becomes service when we tend what is before us.

And preparation for what comes next does not begin by imagining the future. It begins by becoming responsible for the present.

Before asking what we wish to harvest in Spring, perhaps we should ask: What am I willing to tend through Winter?

Because a seed is not an intention alone. It is a relationship.

Once planted, it asks something of us. Attention. Patience. Reciprocity. Trust.

We cannot command it to grow. But neither can we abandon it and call that surrender.

We participate. We tend. We listen. We respond. And we allow Life to do what only Life can do.

Perhaps this is the seed of this New Moon: devotion to what matters.

To enter this coming season consciously. To place our lives in order, not because we can control what comes next, but because we wish to be available to meet it.

Honour what was with gratitude. Meet what is with truth. Prepare for what may come with grace. And co-create what wishes to become from Love, with Light.

Remember

Order is not control. It is making space for what matters.

We cannot determine what the seed will become. We can only decide how faithfully we will tend it.

Practice

Sit before your desk, your room, your calendar, or simply your life.

Do not begin by doing anything.

First, breathe.

Take twelve slow breaths.

Then ask: What is asking for my attention?

Do not make a list immediately. Listen.

When something arises, ask: Does this need my attention? My commitment? My gratitude? My completion? Or my release?

Choose one. Only one. And tend it. Slowly. Impeccably. With gratitude for having been entrusted with its care.

Journaling

  • What in my life is genuinely asking to be tended?
  • What am I continuing out of habit rather than devotion?
  • What must I lovingly complete or release to make space for what is coming?
  • What am I willing to tend through the darkness of Winter, without needing to know what it will become in Spring?

Blessing

May I have the discernment to recognise what truly matters.

May I honour what was with gratitude, meet what is with truth, and prepare for what comes with grace.

May I not confuse order with control, nor devotion with perfection.

May my hands care faithfully for what has been entrusted to them.

May I know when to tend, when to complete, when to repair, and when to release.

May I make space without demanding what must fill it.

May I plant without insisting upon the harvest.

May I enter the coming darkness trusting what continues to grow unseen.

And may this New Moon plant within us the seed of devotion: the willingness to tend what matters, in reciprocity, with truth, with grace, and with gratitude for what was, what is, and what we may yet co-create together, from Love, with Light.

Yo lo Creo / I believe, and so it is.
